Martin: Whole grain pancakes, and an egg-white omelette please.
Waitress: What would you like in your omelette?
Martin: Nothing in the omelette, nothing at all.
Waitress: Well that’s not technically an omelette.
Martin: Well I don’t wanna get into a semantic argument over it, I just want the protein, alright?
Few minutes later, waitress brings in food.
Waitress: Here’s your not-an-omelette.

se·man·tics (si-'mant-iks) : the study of meanings; from Greek: σημαντικός, semantikós, significant meaning, from sema, sign
Why Semantics?
First of all, getting a degree in English probably has something to do with it. I love words (no pun intended), and in a day and age when communication is on overload, saying what you mean and meaning what you say is very important and can be somewhat rare. “The study of meanings” and it comes from the Greek word for “sign.” I really like that for some reason. Everyone is in search of meaning, whether it be faith, life, the war on terror, or the latest M. Night Shyamalan movie.
So, mainly this will be a study of meanings of all sorts. How ’bout it kids? Let’s do it together?
A Brief Bit About Me::
Living in NW Arkansas now, working as a “reporter”. Still trying to figure that one out. I want nothing more than a fulfilled relationship with my Creator. Oh, and to move back to NYC if possible.
